Metal Scrap Baling

Material

Mixed ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap, sheet offcuts, turnings, and light structural cuttings

The processing problem

Loose metal scrap takes up yard space, is expensive to transport, and is difficult to charge into a furnace in an uncontrolled shape.

Why this process is used

Baling compresses mixed metal into dense, rectangular packages that stack, weigh, and melt more predictably than loose scrap.

Metal scrap baling is the core application for Narshinga Industries hydraulic scrap balers. Loose MS, HMS, sheet cuttings, and machine-shop waste are pressed into dense bales so yards can store more on the same footprint and ship more weight per truck.

Triple-action and double-compression presses are typically specified where mixed ferrous scrap must reach mill-ready density. Horizontal scrap balers are used where the yard already shears oversized pieces and wants a continuous feed into the chamber.

Operational considerations

  • Separate heavy structural sections for shearing before baling where thickness exceeds the chamber rating.
  • Turnings and borings often need a lid or extra side compression to hold density.
  • Confirm bale size against the mill or foundry receiving specification before ordering.

Recommended machine family: Scrap Baling Press Machines. Final model is confirmed by engineering.

FAQs

Most mixed ferrous yards specify a triple-action or double-compression hydraulic scrap baler. Final tonnage depends on material mix, bale size, and daily throughput — confirm with the engineering team.
