Why this process is used
Dense steel bales improve melt-shop charging and let yards ship closer to the truck’s weight limit instead of cubing out on volume.
Steel scrap baling is specified for re-rolling mills, foundries, and yards supplying HMS. Narshinga triple-compression and heavy-duty horizontal scrap balers are built for this duty: high pressing force, heavy frames, and bale sizes that mills can charge.
Where the feed is already cut to length, a horizontal scrap baler with conveyor loading keeps the line moving. Where mixed shapes arrive, a triple-action press with a lid and side ram produces a more uniform cube.
Operational considerations
- Match pressing force to the heaviest regular section you will bale, not the average piece.
- Stainless and coated steels should be batched separately if the mill pays a premium for chemistry.
- Oversized beams and plate usually go through a shear first, then into the baler.
