The processing problem
Aluminium is bulky and springy. Loose loads waste container volume and oxidise more surface area in storage.
Why this process is used
Baling aluminium reduces freight, keeps grades together, and presents a cleaner charge to remelters.
Aluminium scrap baling is a regular specification on Narshinga scrap balers. Double-action and double-compression machines are often chosen where sheet and extrusion offcuts dominate. Fabrication shops with lower daily volume can use a vertical hydraulic baling press.
We do not publish a single aluminium density figure as a guarantee — bale weight depends on alloy, wall thickness, and how the chamber is loaded. Engineering confirms the model after seeing the material.
Operational considerations
- Keep painted, cast, and clean extrusion grades in separate bales if the remelter pays for chemistry.
- Turnings may need a tighter lid cycle to stop spring-back.
- Vertical balers suit smaller fabrication shops; yards with conveyor feed usually specify horizontal.
